Sleepy time

Beau took this picture the other morning. I thought it was really cute, so I figured I would put it up. This is Sylvie's usual sleep pose...arms in the goal post position. She has been sleeping for longer periods of time here and there, which is great, though it's not quite consistent yet.
The other day, she basically slept from 8:00 pm to 4:00 am, minus time for one feeding at 11:00, which Beau was generous enough to do so momma could get some sleep. She was so zonked out after she ate at 11:00 that when it came time for Beau to go to sleep himself, he didn't want to wake her up so he moved the whole swing (where she was sleeping) into her room without waking her up! Now that's impressive.

Happy Happy, Joy Joy

Here's the happy little girl in action, bedazzled by the odd colors and shapes of the Psychedelic Playmat. Groovy!

Sylvie and Pop

Pop (a.k.a. Katie's dad) flew into Boston on January 16th to stay for the week and help out with Sylvie. It's grandchild #5, granddaughter #2 for Pop. It was fun to have him in town and spend some quality time together. As you can see, Sylvie felt right at home in Pop's arms.

Sylvie's 1st smile

Sylvie showed us glimpses of a smile at roughly 7 weeks. Fun fact- at 6 weeks experts say the first social smile may occur. After 8 weeks, if your baby is not smiling you may want to call a therapist about depression.

This was Sylvie's 1st documented smile. Something about a fresh diaper (and her parent's foolery) brings joy to a newborn. Enjoy!

Incidentally, you'll have to excuse the dark video footage. The cinematographer was standing directly in her light. Rookie maneuver!

Granny comes to visit

Katie's mom came in town from Chicago the last week of January to meet the newest edition to the family. Sylvie enjoyed the view of Harvard Square Granny's room at the Charles Hotel had to offer, but what was most exciting was the checkerboard pattern on the quilt of the bed. It was quite an mesmerizing experience for her, as you can tell by the photos.

Granny Beth also had a chance to visit Beau and Katie's place, and have a little more bonding time with Sylvie before she left town.
