Bath Splash

Here's a video I actually took on my phone and sent to the blog. Sylvie likes to splash!

Sylvie is 2/3-year-old

Sylvie is officially 8 months old today. Leave it to daddy to make it into a fraction. It's hard to believe she's only been in our life for 8 months. I can finally relate to when parents say "I can't imagine my life without my kids." It's been quite a ride. At this point, we're really into a fun stage. She's very interactive and is generally a very happy baby. It's hard to imagine in a few months she'll probably be crawling and next year probably talking!

Katie is heading back to school next week, which will be an adjustment to our lives. She'll be working 17 hours/week and Sylvie will be in childcare for approximately 14 hours/week. This should be a good first step. We hope she'll adjust well. If her first visit to Kaniz--the woman who is going to be taking care of Sylvie in her home on Wednesdays--is any indication, it should be smooth sailing. See below...

Our little Bun

Beau's mom recently came through town on her way back from Morocco and spent a few days with us before she (sadly) had to go back to South Carolina. Sylvie, who has had some separation anxiety in the past, definitely warmed up to Grammy this time and realized that, hey, this lady's not so bad after all!
Here they are playing together. Grammy was trying to pretend she was the bear, but I don't think Sylvie was buying it.

These next photos aren't from when Grammy was in town...they were just taken tonight, but I thought I would put them up 'cause they were too darn cute. And, Grammy, being the bunny-lover that she is, is sure to appreciate them!

One more video from the Cape

Here's a video of Sylvie with her grandpa, "Pop," on our last day at the Cape.

Cape Cod

We just got back today from a week-long trip to the Cape. Amy and Bill rented a house in Eastham, close to the beach and other attractions in the area. Jenny, John and Patrick and Lily came out for part of the time, and then my dad, Gerry, and Carolyn came out for the other part. It was a lot of fun spending some quality time together. Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures with Jenny and John (sorry!). But, here are a bunch of photos, so take a gander:

Let's play catch up

Okay. So, here's the entry where I put in some of the things that I didn't get around to blogging about when they happened. Here it goes...

1. A few weeks back, the ladies met for our second "stitch & bitch" session at Naomi's. It was a chance for all of us with and without babies to get together, eat some good food, drink some good drinks, either learn how to knit or to continue working on knitting projects, and enjoy some good conversation. Funny how really the only bitching came from the babies, who all took turns crying at some point during the evening.

2. Beau, Sylvie and I took a trip down to Coventry, RI, mid-July to visit our friends Carolyn and Doug and their 21-month old son Mason. We met Mason last year but it was the first time they met Sylvie. It was fun seeing them...Mason grew quite a bit since we last saw him and was busy running around and exercising his right to proclaiming all his toys, "Mine!"

3. Beau's Mom flew in at the end of the month for a quick visit before heading off to Morocco with Joc, Amine and the twins. Here's a picture of the growing Tremblay clan...

4. And, while I'm at it, I might as well throw in something from quite a ways back: Amy's running of the Boston Marathon. I've been wanting to post something about it for a while since I didn't get around to it then and have been trying to figure out how to throw it into our blog somehow. Mission accomplished!

She finished 9248 out of about 22,000 official entrants; finished 2249 in her gender and 1689 in her division by running an 8:23 minute pace on average.

How she was able to stand after running 26.2 miles is beyond me!
